DESCRIPTION

Replaces the current process image.

SYNOPSIS

long execve(const char *path, char *const argv[], char *const envp[]);

RETURN VALUE

• Returns a non-negative result on success. Negative values are ABI errno codes.

ERRORS

• -E2BIG
  • The argument or environment vector exceeds its limit.
• -EFAULT
  • A path, vector, or string pointer is invalid.
• -ENOENT
  • The executable path does not exist.
• -ENOEXEC
  • The file is not a valid executable.
• -ENOMEM
  • The replacement image cannot be allocated.

ABI

Arguments enter through the direct syscall ABI; validation is performed before entering the process subsystem.
